Brett Kavanaugh confirmed to U.S. Supreme Court by 50-48 margin
The U.S. Senate has voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court by a 50-48 margin.
Kavanaugh, who has been fending off allegations of sexual assault dating back to his high school and college years, had been expecting to win confirmation by a narrow margin.
Republicans control the Senate by a 51-49 margin, and the vote was expected to be nearly party-line.
The White House has said Kavanaugh will be sworn in as soon as possible.
