Train derails west of Swift Current; clean up could take a few days
Crews are in clean-up mode after a train carrying potash derailed just outside Swift Current on Tuesday night.
The derailment happened around 6:00 p.m. about five miles west of Swift Current on Highway 1.
According to officials 12 CP rail cars and one engine came off the track spilling little amounts of potash and fuel.
Clean up is underway and the track is expected to be fixed by Thursday.
No word yet on what caused the derailment.
